Digital Fine Art Ink F.A.Q.s

If you cannot find the answer to your question below, please send us your questions and we will do our best to answer if for you.

1) How often should the ink filter in the ink lines of the Easy Fill Pro be changed?

The finger filter should be changed every other month or every 3 liters.

2) How long is ink inside the Easy Fill Pro good for?

Open ink left in the tank for more than a month will not fire properly. Customers must turn over at least 1 liter per month to make sure ink stays within specification. Customers should research buying patterns before upgrading to a bulk system. If you use more than 4 OEM cartridges per month of each color then it is recommended that you move to bulk ink. If you use MYLcLm but not C or K then go bulk on the 4 colors but not the C or K.

3) When I put my BDG ink cartridge into my Epson, the machine doesn’t see that the cartridge is installed. What should I do?

Remove the cartridge, shake it back and forth several times, and re-install it. If the Epson still doesn’t see the cartridge, remove it and lightly wipe the chip with a dry, lint free cloth and re-install the cartridge.

4) Does BullDog offer bulk inks for the Epson large format printers?

Due to the average Epson user ink usage, BullDog does not offer bulk ink nor a bulk ink system for Epson large format printers.

5) Should I use Matte Black or Photo Black on BullDog canvas products?

You can use either MK or PK on BullDog Canvas not including Green Dot. Our Red, Black, Purple, and Pink Dot are universal meaning you can use either MK or PK on them. If you are running Green Dot you will see the best results with MK. If you’re having trouble deciding whether to run Matte Black or Photo Black in your printer you should evaluate the other media's you run on your Epson. If you’re running a lot of photo stocks you should run PK; if you’re running a lot of water color papers it is advised to run MK.

  • MK = Matte Black
  • PK = Photo Black

6) What is the recommended height of my Bulk Ink System?

If you are using an EasyFill bulk ink system, check at least once a week that the height is still at the recommended 38.5” from the ground. It is important to remember that ink-flow through the nozzles is directly affected by shifts in height. If set too high, dripping may occur. If set too low, starvation and damage to the heads may occur. Note: The height of your system may vary due to altitude and seasonal variances.
